Heritage and Archives Committee
Heritage and Archives Moment: Archiving 101
Do you know when the Southern Region was formed? How many chapters are currently in the Region? How about the states included in the Region? Simple questions, right? Maybe for some of us, but for others these questions may pose a challenge. It is the goal of the Heritage & Archives Committee to share the history of the Southern Region with you and to assist you in preserving this legacy for generations to follow.
The Southern Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has a rich heritage. Formed in 1926, the Southern Region is the largest of the Sorority’s seven regions, with 216 chapters spread across an area rich in history, tradition and charm - Alabama, the Bahamas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee. During this biennium, the Heritage and Archives Committee will communicate through our informative website and the Southern Gazette, interesting historical facts regarding the Southern Region and best practices in archiving. You can also look forward to a new initiative designed to promote a rich southern tradition, preservation and sisterhood.
The Heritage and Archives Committee is extremely excited about sharing the history of the Southern Region and preserving the history of our illustrious sisterhood.
